Who Am I?
Hi! My name is Tyler. Thanks for clicking your way here. To keep things short, I’m a 25-year-old boy/ man?! / dog dad who is quite a bit of a weirdo with lots of random ideas. To get those random ideas out of my head, I decided to write them out because why not! I’m sure someone reading this is maybe curious about my life story, academic achievements, and career path. If not, I’m going to tell you anyway because this is my blog.
Little old me started out in the Bay Area, specifically, I grew up in San Francisco, CA. I always thought that San Francisco (it’s SF for short, but please do not say San Fran) was the greatest place ever because of its sizable diversity in the city. Most importantly, the food options were endless, especially boba! Fast forward to the age of 17, I got accepted to the University of Pennsylvania for college. Yay! Woohoo! Right?! Well, it was at the time a very difficult decision. I was a 17-year-old kid who lived in California for his whole life and now I was expected to move across the country to Philadelphia all by myself. I had no one, I didn’t know anyone, and worst of all was the imposter syndrome that stuck with me throughout all four years of college. I did okay in college, wasn’t spectacular by any means, but I learned a lot and made some friends along the way. I’m still surprised sometimes by why people want to be friends with this weirdo, I digress. I graduated in May of 2018 with a BA in Neuroscience (officially called: Biological Basis of Behavior). Here’s where the pretentiousness of an Ivy League school kicks in. In college, everyone around me was a competitive premed student. At the time, I was trying desperately to be one of them and I was so sure I wanted to apply to medical school. I was so unhappy and honestly sick of the BS that came with being a premed. So by my junior year of college, I decided to minor in fine arts, specifically in painting. I had forgotten what made me happy and why I even wanted to join Penn in the first place. I went into Penn wanting to learn about science because it challenged and taught me to view the world with a curious mind. I neglected my creative identity and had forgotten how liberating it was to express myself through art. It was honestly very depressing at times. But hey, I got through it and here we are.
I was hoping this introduction would be more like an elevator pitch but clearly, it is more like a thesis.
Now that you know a little about me, we can get back to the important things. Why am I doing this? Well, to simply put it, I’m just bored with my routine life. I want to create an outlet in which I can just put random (and sometimes stupid) content out to the world. Whether people care about these random contents is anyone’s guess. My goal for this page is mainly to share random things in my life, including my adorable little doggo, Armie (yes, like Armie Hammer but cuter).
I hope you like some random content because there will be plenty of that here!
